Munk-chips, Grape Soup & Door Knobs

If anyone has been wondering what’s new with us, this post’s title kind of sums it up.  Quin’s language skills continue to develop, however this morning he started asking me about munk-chips as we were looking out the back window.  It took me a minute to figure out that he was really wondering where the chipmunks were during the rain that was coming down.  I have no idea why he mixes up those syllables but I thought it was cute.

Earlier this week, we were sitting down at the table enjoying some lunch.  Quin decided that his peanut butter and jelly sandwich was really only worth licking the jelly off the bread.  He had a bowl of grapes on his tray, but asked if he could have some soup which I was eating.  So I got him a bowl and put some potato soup in there for him.  He was excited about the soup, but since he then had a total of two bowls on his tray, of course, he couldn’t resist dumping the grapes into the soup.  As bizarre and distasteful as it may sound, he ate every last grape along with his potato soup out of the same bowl.  Grape soup sounds like a new culinary treat, doesn’t it?

Last but not least, Quin has finally discovered that he can reach the door knobs on most of the doors on our main floor of the house.  I make this statement to warn any future visitors to please lock the bathroom door.  Imagine Rick’s surprise when one morning this week, Quin decided he needed to play with some toys in the bathroom during his shower.  I’ve also been caught by this one a few times when I’ve needed to use the bathroom.  I have about 20 seconds before Quin comes to the door, calls for mommy and then just lets himself in.  I suppose privacy is another thing of the past…There are plenty of things you just don’t imagine until you have a child.  Regardless of the lack of privacy, the culinary mysteries, and the odd vocabulary, I don’t think I’d trade any of it.  I love you Quin.  Thanks for keeping me on my toes.
