{"id":903,"date":"2009-06-29T19:12:27","date_gmt":"2009-06-30T00:12:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rickandviv.net\/?p=903"},"modified":"2013-11-28T09:06:47","modified_gmt":"2013-11-28T14:06:47","slug":"remembering-glenn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rickandviv.net\/index.php\/2009\/06\/29\/remembering-glenn\/","title":{"rendered":"Remembering Glenn"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There were only six years between me and Glenn.\u00a0 But somehow he always seemed so much older.\u00a0 He had different friends, different interests, and had moved ahead of me in the growing up years so quickly.\u00a0 As I reflect back over those years, I remember&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>He played with cool toys like legos and lincoln logs.\u00a0 He shared his toys with me and my sister at Christmas, since his stuff was so different than ours.\u00a0 I remember playing with his hot wheels track and a mini air hockey table.\u00a0 He liked science fiction shows like Lost in Space and Star Trek.\u00a0 He had friends in the neighborhood that would ride bikes together before I could even balance without training wheels.\u00a0 His easter baskets always contained white chocolate, since he didn&#8217;t care much for milk chocolate.\u00a0 Some of his favorite things were lemon meringue pie, steak and potatoes, and Mountain Dew.\u00a0 Glenn had an artistic flair &#8211; one I wish I had.\u00a0 He was good at sketching and drawing.<\/p>\n<p>He loved music, classic 70&#8217;s rock and roll.\u00a0 He played the trumpet in the high school band.\u00a0 He was an avid Eagles fan.\u00a0 I have memories of him picking me up from school and blaring the radio SO loud, pounding on the steering wheel and singing along to the music.\u00a0 Before I could even think of driving, he had a job at a local pizza shop delivering pizzas.\u00a0 Finally when I was old enough to drive, Glenn (&amp; my sister) took me up to the junior high school parking lot to practice and then out onto the roads in our little suburb.\u00a0 He laughed as he coached me how to stay on my side of the road.<\/p>\n<p>He once brought home a lost and scared siberian husky, and somehow convinced my dad that we should keep her.\u00a0 Glenn loved to play games.\u00a0 We spent many nights playing cribbage, 500, hearts, spades, you name it.\u00a0 He also enjoyed badminton.\u00a0 I remember playing with the family on many a summer night.\u00a0 The birdie would inevitably end up on the roof of the house, and he and dad would somehow get it back down so we could continue to play until the lightning bugs came out and it was too dark to play any longer.<\/p>\n<p>He had a girlfriend before I ever entered my adolescent years .\u00a0 Her name was Kathy, she was his high school sweetheart and he married her.\u00a0 Together they shared 25 years of married life and had three beautiful children, my niece Krystle and my nephews Shawn and Robert.\u00a0 I regret that their years together on this earth are over, but pray that they will cherish many family memories together.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rickandviv.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/pc250040.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-904\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rickandviv.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/pc250040-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>We have a pillow in our house with a sweet little saying on it.\u00a0 I think it is appropriate as I remember Glenn, and I hope it will be true for my two sons who will be brothers for life.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A brother is a lifelong friend.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Though we didn&#8217;t always agree on everything Glenn, you were a lifelong friend, one that God put into my life, always older, always going before me.\u00a0 I will miss you my brother and my friend.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There were only six years between me and Glenn.\u00a0 But somehow he always seemed so much older.\u00a0 He had different friends, different interests, and had moved ahead of me in the growing up years so quickly.\u00a0 As I reflect back over those years, I remember&#8230;
